I'm an African American male and I love indian cuisine. I feel this occurs because Americans , or i can only speak for the ones I've encountered, are less likely to venture to far out of their comfort zones. If its new and "looks funny", nine times out of ten, they wont eat it.

Your perception may be a regional thing. In areas that spicy food is popular Indian food in liked and Indian restaurants do well.

Indian food is pretty big here in Canada too. They sell the jarred sauces (like Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken etc) at nearly every grocery store. Not sure why Americans don't like it. Maybe it's not trendy enough right now?

The Indian culture in GB has really infused the British population, much like the Mexican culture has changed the mealtime menus here in the States. Mexican cuisine is the equivalent here.
